NAVAGA is a high-speed Arctic airboat

Водный

NAVAGA is a modern high—speed Arctic airboat of a new generation, designed for operation in the harshest regions of the Far North.

NAVAGA is a high-speed Arctic airboat

1. The mission of the project

NAVAGA (Northern Arctic Versatile Airboat for Government Applications) it is being created as a universal transport platform for the northern regions, where the usual infrastructure is practically absent.

The main objective of the project is to ensure the fastest, safest and most comfortable movement on ice, snow, mud, water, swampy tundra and coastal areas, regardless of the time of year.

The main directions of application:

  • Arctic expeditions;
  • oil and gas fields;
  • geological exploration;
  • energy companies;
  • emergency services;
  • air ambulance (at the first stage of delivery);
  • Ministry OF Emergency Situations;
  • border guards;
  • Coast Guard;
  • northern settlements;
  • staff delivery;
  • provision of scientific stations;
  • maintenance of lighthouses and navigation facilities;
  • premium class tourist expeditions.

The main idea of the project is very simple:

NAVAGA should get a person to where they really need to go as quickly as possible.

2. The idea of NAVAGA

The name NAVAGA combines two meanings:

  • Navaga is one of the northernmost commercial fish, ideally adapted to life in cold water.
  • Navigation — navigation, movement, accurate route following.

The idea of NAVAGA is based around three principles:

  1. Speed - Minimum delivery time regardless of the surface.
  2. ** Reliability** - Equipment should work where failure means a threat to life.
  3. North - Every detail is designed based on operation at extremely low temperatures.

The slogan:

NAVAGA — Faster Through the North

or

It was created for the Arctic. Born to move.

3. General concept and design

The NAVAGA design is built around the image of a predatory northern fish that easily overcomes water resistance.

Main exterior features:

  • fast-paced silhouette;
  • wedge-shaped nose;
  • low roof line;
  • high glazing area;
  • pronounced lateral "gills";
  • minimum number of decorative elements;
  • simple geometric panels;
  • a single continuous silhouette.

All exterior panels are specially designed for:

  • laser cutting;
  • sheet bending;
  • industrial welding.

There are practically no complex surfaces of double curvature.
This significantly reduces the cost of production and repairs. The exterior resembles a modern expedition vehicle rather than a pleasure boat.

4. Engineering solutions

NAVAGA uses the proprietary engineering approach of RenderWorks Industrial Design - "Function First".

Aerodynamic body

Optimized surfaces reduce airflow resistance.
Increases:

  • speed;
  • cost-effectiveness;
  • stability.

Arctic cabin

Fully insulated cabin.
Used:

  • multi-layered panels;
  • thermal insulation;
  • double glazing;
  • de-icing system.

High visibility

Panoramic windows provide an almost all-round view.

Modern power plant

Possible options:

  • petrol engine;
  • diesel engine;
  • hybrid power plant;
  • a promising electric version.

Modular design

The case consists of separate functional modules:

  • nasal;
  • passenger;
  • power;
  • aft.

This greatly simplifies repairs.

Increased maintainability

Almost all panels are removable.

Most of the elements are replaced without dismantling the neighboring nodes.

Unification

The maximum number of identical parts between different versions of the family.

Northern Operation Engineering

Provided by:

  • engine heating;
  • independent heater;
  • insulation of the engine compartment;
  • screw protection;
  • bottom protection;
  • reinforced supports;
  • the ability to run at extremely low temperatures.

  • the unmanned version.

8. Project prospects

NAVAGA is not just a modern airboat, but a specialized high—speed transport system for the Arctic, designed to meet the requirements of industrial operation, extreme climate and high maintainability. Simple panels adapted to laser cutting and bending, modular architecture and insulated cabin make the platform both technologically advanced and cost-effective in production.

The project is based on the idea of fast, reliable and safe movement across any northern landscape — from ice fields and snow-covered tundra to open water and sludge. NAVAGA combines expressive modern design, inspired by the swift shapes of predatory fish, with practical engineering and high family development potential. This is a platform designed for decades of operation and capable of becoming the new standard of Arctic transport.
