SUMRAK is a multi-purpose expedition platform designed to operate in hot climates and remote areas with limited transportation infrastructure.
Unlike classic SUVs, the project is focused not only on cross-country ability, but also on the convenience of daily operation. The car combines an enclosed driver's cabin with an open cargo and passenger compartment, allowing people, equipment and various goods to be transported within a single transport platform.
The vehicle's architecture is designed for long-term operation away from the service infrastructure and assumes the easiest possible access to the working areas of the machine.

The project was developed for operation in African countries where transport regularly operates in conditions of high temperatures, dust, seasonal rains and limited quality of the road network.
It was the operating conditions that determined most of the design solutions.
The open cargo compartment provides natural ventilation and convenient transportation of people and equipment, while the removable awning protects passengers and cargo from intense sunlight without creating a completely enclosed volume.
The high ground clearance and short overhangs are designed for driving on dirt roads and rough terrain.
Engineering Description
The structure is built around a single interior space that unites the cabin and the cargo and passenger compartment. This solution facilitates the interaction of the crew while driving and makes the car more convenient for expedition work.
A separate folding ramp is provided for access to the rear of the body, allowing passengers to quickly board and load equipment without using side doors.
The open body layout simplifies the transportation of bulky goods and allows you to adapt the car to various use scenarios — from transporting people to installing specialized equipment.
The exterior of the car is shaped by the design. Pronounced wheel arches, compact overhangs, high ground clearance and simple body planes emphasize the utilitarian nature of the car and correspond to the expected operating conditions.
Project results
The concept of an expedition wheeled all-terrain vehicle for operation in Africa has been developed, including the architecture of a transport platform, industrial product design, a digital model and a set of presentation materials.
The project demonstrates the approach of our studio RENDERWORKS to the development of specialized equipment, in which the design is formed based on real-world operating conditions, and the appearance becomes a consequence of engineering logic, rather than an independent goal.
